Blogger Friends
I'm pretty much a lone food blogger in Auckland so I jumped at the the opportunity to meet a fellow food blogger while on my travels. Anthony , the Man That Cooks, and I shared a riverside picnic of goodies from the Boatshed Markets in Cottesloe. While Anthony was choosing a selection of local sardines, cheese, chicken, bread and stuffed figs; I was, in true blogger style trotting along behind photographing anything that looked remotely edible.
We spent a pleasant couple of hours in the Perth sunshine discussing what you would expect food bloggers to discuss - food and blogging and more. It was fun and I hope Anthony makes it to Auckland someday so I can share some of our local specialties with him. And I can't imagine any of his friends saying "But you can't meet someone you don't know, who you've met on the Internet - they might be a serial killer".
You had a great experience,Barbara! I think you make the best of use the advantage of internet.
I may be able to avoid meeting a serial killer by reading one's blog. Blog is a kind of identity, isn't it?:)

Or even a cereal eater Jeanne!
Ryoko - that is the power of the food blogging community - we all feel comfortable with each other because we share a common passion - food!

It is true that you need to be careful to meet somebody whom you met on line. But you could meet a soulmate through the internet like I did!!! :)

And so did I, Mikako!

Well that'll teach me to leave my chloroform at home.

Chloroform - now that's showing MY age Anthony. It would never have worked. I was given it once when I was very young and it took 4 people to hold me down.

Hi there, I just discovered your blog and I really enjoy your text and photos, this is great! I just read you were the only or almost only food blogger in Auckland. No this is not true. I food blog, too. The only thing is that it's all in French, as I started it for my family and friends back home, and for any food lover interested in discovering what food is like down under. I plan to start blogging in English too and I'll let you know when I do. Untill then, I'll keep on reading your food adventures with excitement. Please tell us more about how you find food over here, your culinary discoveries or disappointments.
Another question: what is the green and pink roll on the photo above?

Welcome Celine. I'll send you a private email. The green and pink roll is a salmon roulade.

Seems like you had a great time with the man that cooks - I'd love to visit New Zealand one day, it must be a fascinating place. I'll definitely let you know then.

I've just read the Ultimate foodie compliment Barbara! Anthony said that you'd be just as charming with (how did he put it..) " a tin of spam and a warm Bacardi breezer".
A lovely sentiment. I'm sure you've read it but it's always good to be reminded..

Looking forward to hosting you in NZ someday Keiko.
Mary - Anthony was such good company it was easy to be charming?
