« I'm Taking A Short Break | Main | Hay Hay Its Donna Day #10 - Cheescake »

February 27, 2007

Normal Cooking Will Resume Soon

It is official. Do you know they can make marmalade without fruit? They can.  I know, because I had some on my toast in hospital.  It came in a little packet with no name on the back apart from This product was packed for distribution in New Zealand by blah blah blah.  I'd say it was water, gelatin,  sugar and some synthetic flavouring.  I wondered if the company also supplied the prisons or did they get something better.

However despite the food, the service was wonderful. I couldn't have had better treatment.  Such lovely nurses and they all did their best to make my stay as painless as possible.

So I'm home directing cooking operations from the couch and so missing being in the kitchen. Peabody  will have Hay Hay Its Donna Day up around 3rd March.  Visit her for the details and join us.

Thank you to everyone that took the time to send their thoughts and good wishes to me this past couple of weeks.  It really helps to know people care.

Hooray you're home then. Command even from the couch is getting better!
Hospital food can be a mystery and even once in a while some little bit of it is pretty good, won't talk about the rest.
Glad you're home. Take care.

Great to hear you're home B!
Wellington hospital's food is revolting also, but must say the 'old' Chch Womens was pretty fair.
So pleased to hear from you!

eew for the yucky "marmalade", yeah! that you are home! Rest up and take care.

Marmalade without fruit sure doesn't sound good.

Welcome home Barbara, I hope your directions lead to some tasty meals.

I'm so glad to know you're back and feeling better, Barbara.

I really wish you all the best, even without knowing you personally and being half a planet away. :)

Welcome home barbara it nice to hear you are back at the helm and I second what beccy says. We have missed you and it sounds as though the hospital food in NZ is every bit as awful as my mum experienced here in a Bristol (UK) hosp. Glad the nursing care was good.

Thank you everyone. It is nice to be back. I must be feeling much better as yesterday it crossed my mind how much I would enjoy a glass of wine about now. Will hold off until all drugs are finished.

Hi Barbara, Great to hear that you are home and on the mend.

Welcome home, Barbara!!!!!! I am so glad you are BACK!! The marmalade sounds like the one I had in school lunch when I was a kid...just sweet and smell like some kind of fruit, right? Anyway, I am so happy you sound great.

Welcome home!!! So nice to see you back and doing well :) Enjoy giving the orders from the couch, heehee :) (((cyber-hug)))

Hey. Huggipoos. I'd have weighed in sooner, but I figured there'd be a landslide, and I wanted to be last!
:D
Now, somebody can come in after me and be much more elegant. (Oh, and they will.)
