Eggs In Waiting

Only one more day of Le Tour and I'll find me way off the couch and back into the kitchen. For the past 19 days I've been recording the race during the night. The next morning I get comfy on the couch and watch the race for the next 5 - 6 hours. I feel no guilt. As I keep telling the family I'm recovering from surgery, it's winter, it's too wet, too cold, it looks like rain. There is no way I can go out in this weather.
Last weekend the sun was shining, so we went out for the day and I watched the race when we arrived home. I went to Arfi's for lunch. Arfi always has foodie gifts for me to bring home. This time - her Tamarillo Chutney , and because the fruit trees were bare and the veggie garden empty, a dozen eggs laid by her own hens. Lovely farm fresh brown white and blue eggs. I have plans for them and if I manage to find the kitchen on Tuesday I'll be entering Waiter, There's Something In My Sauce.
Gorgeous eggs!
I'm so glad you're resting and enjoying the Tour in the meanwhile... hopefully it is helping those "recovery hours" speed by a bit faster.
Hugs to you!

Fresh eggs are so much better than store bought ones, especially when you're making dishes that showcase the yolks, like huevos rancheros or eggs benedict.
Glad you're not feeling guilty - you deserve to do whatever makes you happy! I think it's fascinating that you're watching Le Tour... do you add your own commentary?

I dont have an excuse! I cried like a baby when the peloton went past me, I couldn't explain it at the time, but it was just so beautiful, so colourful and something I've watched on TV for 10 years and there it was. I hope your recovery is on track and you're enjoying life, I'll look forward to your recipes.

I wish I knew more ways to cook eggs, I hear they're quite healthful.

Barbara I am a little disillusioned with "le tour' because of all the drug problems. Embee is a keen follower.
I sometimes buy blue eggs but they are more expensive and they certainly would not be that fresh!

Jennifer - Thanks. This morning seems a little dull with no race to watch.
Beccy - I don't get fresh eggs very often either. It is always nice to be given some.
Kat - they are laid by special chickens.
Ari - the commentary team are so knowledgable about the architecture, history and villages it is a pleasure to listen to them.
Golly - I understand. I would too. I had a tear in my eye as they rode into Paris.
Arfi - the chutney is lovley.
Kelly - maybe someone should write a cookbook devoted to cooking eggs.
Chrisb - I think we will see some changes after this year with less drug cheats competing.
