Do My Buns Look Big In Cinnamon

Dsc_0020
Dbpinksm Another Daring Bakers challenge , which I baked and drafted my post before going on holiday, - Cinnamon Buns or Sticky Buns. Cinnamon Buns looked the easiest and because I was very busy with preparations before leaving for 2 months in Australia I went with Cinnamon. Although I'm sure the Sticky Buns were very nice. I bet they were just that little bit more fattening than the Cinnamon...and I was going to a sunny spot with a beautiful beach  .  I'm already a little concerned about fitting into, what I grew up in Australia calling bathers, here in New Zealand they call them togs.

I had no problems, everything went smoothly, the dough sat quietly on the bench growing bigger while I did other things.  I shaped it and set it on the tray for its second rise while I went for a walk.  The oven was turned on when I arrived home and in they went. Twenty five minutes later they were ready.  I set up the camera while I waited for them cool down sufficiently before drizzling them with the icing.  A few quick photos while the tea was brewing and we sat down to eat one.  I say one, because I made them quite large. Next time I'd make them a tad smaller.

Wonderful job, Barbara, they look absolutely decadent! Although having made both, I have to agree with you, the sticky buns are more fattening, but yummier too, so you should make those as well once the swimsuit dilemma disappears ;)

Those look truly amazing. I'd love to wake up to a breakfast like that.

Who doesnt love cinnamon buns? Try not to think about the calories. I find pretending everything is low fat helps. LOL

these look wonderful! good job!

yum my mouth is watering

Barbara, your glaze is so wonderful!

Heck no, your buns don't look big in that cinnamon - it's gorgeous on you! =)

Terrific post, Barbara - I loved the photos!

I hope you are having a great vacation!

xoxo

Great job. They look delicious. Mine never come out looking like this at all.

Hi how you you taunt us with that beach picture(dull, grey and threatening rain here!)and those lovely buns, I could just do with a plate of those as I'm hosting the food co-op meeting tonight and I still have to make something.

Beautiful photo as usual! Enjoy your vacation!

The sticky buns are more fattening, but also tastier I think :-) Great photos! Have a nice holiday!

Great cinnamon buns Barbara. Hope you're having a good holiday.

Your buns look A-M-A-Z-I-N-G!

Hope you're enjoying your holiday!

Your buns look gorgeous Barbara. Well done!

I say your buns look like just the right size! Beautiful!

Perfectly sized perfect spirals! You blog so faithfully even on holiday.

I just shoed my hubby these...that's means I'll have to try and make them else he'll keep badgering me!

Oh Barbara, you win my vote for the best blog post title this round. I laughed so hard I cried! Thanks for taking the time to share your story.

Beautiful buns! Perhaps you've purchased a cinnamon-colored bathing suit for your time away? We're just out of beach weather, so I'm on to fall and a chill in the air. As far as the "fattening" aspect of the sticky buns is concerned, I'm thinking that at least there was protein in the nuts, right? Have a lovely vacation, Barbara!

Beautiful buns Barbara :-)

Oh glory Barbara - your buns are so lovely! Big? Oh I think just right!
Enjoy the holidays.

Great job!

Thanks everyone for your kind comments. When I get home I'll be visiting your blogs to see your buns.

Beautiful! They look truly delightful. :)

LOL- love your title.
I agree, I will make mine smaller next time too.
Well done.

No, your buns don't look big in cinnamon...horizontal stripes well..OH YOUR BAKED BUNS!!! Not in the least!!!

Fantastic job this month. Enjoy the beach!!!

Hullo! I love the thin, streaks of topping on your cinnamon rolls! How did you make them so thin and nice? Mine are gloppy and chunky in comparison :)

These look devine, hope you are enjoying your trip to Australia, I'll wave when I go out to collect my mail this morning.

Your buns do look good in all that cinnamon and glaze! Hope you are enjoying your trip and relaxing plenty!

These look absolutely perfect!! And you did it even while preparing to be away for 2 months? Dedication!

Excessive calories are a definite hazzard of the Daring Bakers! But gosh, aren't they worth it occasionally for wonderful treats like homemade cinnamon buns?! These look fantastic...beautiful photos too. :-)

They look beautiful! Togs, eh? Learn something new every day.

Maria - I put the icing into an icing bag with a thin nozzle.

Thanks everyone for dropping by and leaving a comment.

Great looking buns!! I love your your icing is so neatly spread on - looks so professional

Hope you are having a wonderful time on your holidays Barbara! These buns look scrumptious! :)

Sigh...the endless battle between buns vs swimsuits! I am familiar! :)

Your buns look fabulous in cinnamon!

What's not to love about big buns? Yours look very curvy in cinnamon Barabara!

I made sourdough sticky buns last time on my post two months ago I think and yes it's pretty easy. Amazingly, this dish has been called under different names or perhaps they're just different in a way: cinnamon rolls, cinnamon buns, sticky buns, whatever. The outcome is always lovely! Enjoy your trip, Barb! Dad's been hospitalized for almost a week now and there's no chance for him to go back home. Last time he had a heart attack and was living in oxygen tube. We're all pretty much in the upsetting pinnacle at the moment. There's nothing we can do anymore. It's just the matter of time. I may stop blogging for a while although I am still organizing my baking club through emails. Love to you and Bryan. Hugs.

Your buns look delicious. It was a nice straight forward recipe where you could do other things while the yeast did the work. Wendy

you are so organised Barabara. Glad to read the holiday is good.
