My Christmas present finally arrived in the camera store this week and I'm having fun playing with it today. I can't believe I didn't buy the 50m F1.8 lens sooner.....'cos I love it. I decided against spending the extra money on the F1.4.
Halen Mon sea salt is a pure sea salt smoked over Welsh oak and was a gift from my dear friend Keiko at Nordljus.
Late in 2008 I received an email from Sara at the blog Whisks and Needles. She recently became a stay at home Mom and needed a little mental stimulation. She put to me an idea she had been working on. Why not turn LiveSTRONG With A Taste Of Yellow into a book? Why not indeed? It was something I'd love to do but didn't have the knowledge or contacts to make it happen. Sara's family have been touched by cancer and she wanted to help raise awareness of cancer issues. With all profits to the Lance Armstrong Foundation I was right behind the idea.
Sara has been in touch with some of the development team at the Lance Armstrong Foundation, and they like the project.
If you have submitted a recipe or picture for the Taste Of Yellow blog events, you will soon be receiving an email from Sara with further information about the project, and formally requesting permission to use your recipe. In order to make sure we do not run foul of copyright laws, we will need express permission to use your recipe or picture. Therefore, if you want you recipe included, you will need to let us know.
If you do not want to wait for an email, you can grant permission for us to use your recipe or picture by emailing Barbara or Sara at firstname.lastname@example.org (you can also email us here if you have any questions or want further information on this project.)
As I may not have all email address' it would really help if you email us rather than wait for an email from Sara. Please take careful note the email address is very similar to the blog event email email@example.com. Just the a is missing.
We would really appreciate if you could mention this on your Facebook or Twitter pages to enable us to reach all participants.
I asked Sara to share a little about herself for those who don't know here and here's what she had to say.
I'm a stay at home mom living with my
husband, our 6-month old son (known in the blogosphere as "the
Munchkin"), and our dog Thea. Between the Munchkin and the dog, I
keep pretty busy, but when I can manage to find the time, I enjoy
knitting, quilting, sewing, reading, puzzles, and of course, cooking
and baking. I love playing around in the kitchen, and I also love how
our CSA has changed the way I cook. I've discovered I like many
things that I thought I hated, and have a good time coming with
different ways to cook the produce we get from the farm each week.
While being a mom leaves me with very little "spare time," I love it,
and I feel very lucky to be able to send so much time with my son,
watching him grown and change every day.
I can't tell you how good this was. A perfect combination of flavours. The sweetness of the grilled mango, the saltiness of the prosciutto, the heat of the chili infused sour cream and a little tartness from a squeeze of lime. I ate it for breakfast. I haven't participated in Hay Hay Its Donna Day for awhile. However this week I'm bundle of energy as it is my week off treatment.
There is no recipe. You just sprinkle some sugar on the mango cheeks and place under the grill. When it's ready take it out and serve with some prosciutto, a wedge of lime and some sour cream mixed with a little chili sauce.
This is the view I wake up to each morning. Photography is an interest I share with my son Chris, and he put this together with Photoshop.
What you can't see is the Hinterland to the left where I often watch the hot air balloons when I'm up early. To the right is the ocean.
The water in the middle is the Broadwater and most days we see the prawn boats go out in the late afternoon and return early morning.
.....and the lovely Jeanne at Cook Sister has honoured me with the Triple Award. Thank you Jeanne. It is indeed an honour to be included with some of the bloggers I truly admire. Many of them are the bloggers I would have chosen to give this award to. I'm going to pass it on to one special person though. Giz at Equal Opportunity Kitchen.
