Armistice Day Remembrance Day Veterans DayIn Flanders fields the poppies blow
Between the crosses, row on row,
That mark our place; and in the sky
The larks, still bravely singing, fly
Scarce heard amid the guns below.

The poppy became a symbol of remembrance . It was the only thing that grew on the fields at Flanders. It brought life, hope, colour and reassurance to those still fighting.
